We needed a better way to reach and engage our frontline population.
I developed a strategy to expand a social platform we had been piloting with our professional workforce to our frontline employees. I saw an opportunity to use the platform to create a more direct, accessible and interactive communication channel – and presented the business case to our CEO. He recognized its potential to reach frontline team members in ways we had not been able to before and approved the expansion.
I led the rollout across three phases: setup, ensuring employees could access the platform; integration, introducing the platform and building awareness; and implementation, driving sustained adoption and demonstrating its value.
We measured success through active usership and engagement – including posts, reactions, likes, and comments – giving us real-time insight into how employees were using the platform and responding to content. The platform also delivered meaningful qualitative benefits:
Social connection: created real-time interaction between frontline employees beyond their immediate teams
Leader engagement: created an outlet for two-way dialogue, enabling leaders to interact directly with frontline employees
Recognition: created a highly visible way to recognize employee accomplishments
Ultimately, I took a solution we had already proven with one employee population, built a data-backed case for expanding it, secured executive sponsorship and led the implementation – resulting in nearly 40% growth in active usership in less than two months.
