When COVID-19 forced our workforce apart, maintaining connection and culture became just as important as keeping employees informed. We had to rethink how we created moments of energy, belonging, and shared experience when people were no longer in the same room.
I helped transform our virtual employee experiences from standard communications into culture-building moments -- using humor, storytelling, and creativity to keep the connection alive and remind people what made our team unique.
From parodying the universal awkwardness of Zoom calls to asking employees’ kids what they thought their parents actually did all day, we found ways to make people laugh and see themselves in the experience. We also created a sizzle reel that captured the energy of a pre-COVID event and ended with a simple reminder: “Let’s not forget who we are.”
These weren’t just entertaining moments. They were intentional communications designed to reinforce identity, connection, and belonging during an incredibly disconnected time.
